Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves one or more therapists working with several people at the same time. These groups are confidential and closed to the public after the initial session.

Community Mental Health Services
ACE Wellness center offers therapeutic behavioral services to our clients in their communities. Our Community Mental Health service supports people living in the community who have mild to severe mental health issues. Being part of a community can have a positive effect on mental health and emotional wellbeing. Community involvement provides a sense of belonging and social connectedness. Having people to talk to and depend on and making new connections through hobbies or a social group can help reduce the risk of mental illness. A community mental health worker will support you with taking medication, managing your health, giving you resources, and offer you therapeutic treatment in your very own community. Our clients are able to maintain confidentiality while enjoying interpersonal effectiveness and socialization.
Benefits of Peer Support
Meeting with people who speak your language
When you are in a peer support scenario, it’s normal to share your experience and talk about what you’ve been through, things that relate to you and why you are there seeking peer support. It’s important to know that you are speaking to people that understand the lingo. You don’t have to explain acronyms or procedure; these people understand it because they experience it every day, themselves.
Learning from people who have been where you are
You will meet people in your peer support group who started out where you are and have seen what you have seen — and moved forward to a place of recovery. This provides you with a regular reminder that healing and hope are real.
Assistance with communication
Learning how to explain what you have gone through and what you need to recover takes practice. In a peer support group you’ll feel safe to do this as you get the support you need.
Increased family support
Families of people struggling with addiction and mental health disorders benefit from supporting each other. Often, you can find resources for your family through your peer support group.
No matter what you have experienced or been through, your peers have likely been through it as well or have seen it before. There is no need to fear judgement from the group when you are doing nothing more than sharing your experiences.
Groups provide support
Hearing from others with similar issues helps you see that you’re not alone in having challenges, whether you’re grappling with panic attacks, depression, or another mental health issue. Many people experience a sense of relief.
Groups can propel you forward
Hearing how other members successfully overcame their fear of flying or how they confronted a family member over drug abuse can be very encouraging.
